On March 10th, Juniors at Har-Ber High School have the opportunity to take the ACT test. The test is free to all Juniors who wish to take the exam. If a four year college is not the plan for your student, they will also have the opportunity to take the ACCUPLACER (college entrance exam for schools like NWAAC or NTI) or ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) on March 10th. Wednesday, November 13th, Juniors will receive a packet that explains testing options. Each packet includes three forms that give you options when it comes to testing. If your student has an IEP, 504 plan, or receives ELL supports, you have the option to apply for accommodations on the ACT. The blue form in the packet will give you this option. This form must be returned by December 20th. If you have other questions, please contact Aterra Lowe (alowe@sdale.org)

On November 18th, 10th and 12th grade students will take the Arkansas Prevention Needs Survey. This survey asks students questions related to health and safety, and it's completely confidential. 10th and 12th grade students received a survey overview form during Advisory; the form gives parents more details about the survey, and it should only be returned if you would like your student to opt out of the survey. All signed forms must be submitted to the front office by Friday, November 15th in order for a student not participate. Forms received after the deadline will not be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Aterra Lowe (alowe@sdale.org).

This past Saturday the Har-Ber Girls finished 5th out 13th and the Boys finished 4th out of 15th at the FHS Invite. The girls "A" 200 Medley Relay team consisting of Sarah Pope, Saylor Wilson, Emily Reaves and the anchor Anna Claire Marvin edged out everyone else in the competition by finishing 1st! Homero Ruiz went a personal season best in the 50 free. David Wallace did a lot for the team. The Wildcat Swim & Dive Team opened up their competition season last night against Springdale High School and Siloam Springs High School. Both boys and girls team finished second behind SHS. Individually Har-Ber made a splash by winning multiple events. Emily Reaves and Anna Claire Marvin finished 1st and 2nd in the 200 free. Emily also finished 1st in the 100 fly just seconds away from qualifying for state. Speaking of state, David Wallace qualified for state in the 100 fly and nearly making the state cut in the 50 free. He did win both of those races. Saylor Wilson qualified for state in both of her events, the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 breast while winning both races. Sarah Pope won the 500 free by dropping 29 seconds from her previous time. Abigail Livingston won the 100 back while nearly qualifying for state in that event. Newcomer for Har-Ber, Max Tisher qualified for state in the 200 Individual Medley. He won that event along with finishing 1st in the 100 breast. The Wildcats have started the season off on the right foot by qualifying for state this early on in the season. They look to continue to ride that wave this Saturday at the Fayetteville Invite, 10:30am at the Jones Center.
