Katherine “Katie” Wilson is the incoming Walker Elementary School assistant principal.
“I am deeply honored and grateful to be selected as the assistant principal at Walker Elementary School, returning to the district that has played such a significant role in my life and the lives of my children,” Wilson said. “This appointment truly feels like a homecoming, as all three of my children have attended this wonderful school. I am thrilled to continue the tradition of educational excellence in Springdale and eagerly anticipate working collaboratively with the dedicated staff, students and families to make a lasting, positive impact in our community.”
Wilson is coming to Springdale Public Schools from Bentonville Public Schools, she said, where she’s split her time for about a year as the assistant principal of Centerton Gamble Elementary and Grimsley Junior High schools.
She has been an educator for 17.5 years, 16 of which were with Springdale Schools, Wilson said. She worked as a math teacher and as an instructional facilitator at Southwest Junior High School, as well as a district instructional specialist.
Wilson is a true professional who brings her joy to others daily, said Dr. Jared Cleveland, Springdale Public Schools superintendent.
“She will enhance the wonderful character of excellence Walker Elementary is known for,” Cleveland said. “Mrs. Wilson is excited to return home to Springdale and to serve where she is needed most.”
Wilson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to once again serve Springdale Schools.
"I would like to thank Dr. Cleveland, the district leadership team, the Springdale School Board and Mrs. Ryan for this incredible opportunity," Wilson said.
Wilson calls Springdale home, she said, and attended Springdale Schools throughout her childhood.
“I have been married to my amazing husband, Josh, for 17 years,” she said. “We have three kids, Caleb, Emma, and, Ezra. All of them attended Walker Elementary.”
Wilson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a TSOL Endorsement from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and a Master of Science in Educational Theory and Practice, National Board Certification for Professional Teaching Standards and an Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership, Principalship from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, she said.
She said she loves to spend her free time reading, learning and serving at her church.
Wilson said she’s excited to collaborate with the entire school community to continue to cultivate an atmosphere where every student, family and teacher can thrive.
“I am passionate about instructional leadership and look forward to supporting our dedicated educators through creativity and collaboration,” she said. “I also hope to bring my passion for people, building supportive relationships with teachers and meeting the social-emotional needs of our students to Walker Elementary.”
