🐾 Walker Wildcats Shine at the Washington County Spelling Bee! 🐝 We are so proud of two Walker Wildcats who represented our school at the Washington County Spelling Bee. 🎉Vanessa spelled her way into the Top 15. 🎉Emerson made an incredible run all the way to the Top 10. Their hard work, determination, and confidence truly paid off. Way to represent Walker with excellence. 👏 Let’s give these Wildcats a big round of applause!

We’re thrilled to partner with the Civil Air Patrol! ✈️🚀 Thanks to their generosity, every Walker student received a STEM kit that will be used during STEAM as part of our aerospace education unit. These materials will soon be sent home for students to continue exploring and learning with their families. #SpringdaleFamily

Do mountains last forever? Mrs. Carter’s 4th graders were investigating today! 🕵️‍♀️

Our scientists used sugar cubes to model how rocks "tumble" downhill, watching jagged edges turn into rounded "boulders" right before their eyes. From counting edges to discussing volcanic ash and fossils, these 4th graders are master problem-solvers! 🌋💥

Huge shout-out to Mrs. Carter and her class for such an engaging, hands-on day of discovery. Way to go, geologists! 👏✨

We were so happy to welcome our students back to school today.

This Saturday, January 31st, from 9:00–2:00, we are hosting a fun-filled ROAR Day! Bus transportation will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Your child brought home an orange note. All Roar students are welcome to attend even if you did not sign up.

We have a fantastic day planned with crafts, cooking, and lots of hands-on fun!

Our 5th graders turned the cold weather into a cool science moment by creating frozen bubbles! ❄️🫧 Huge thanks to Mrs. Nichols for sparking this idea and to our 5th grade team for leading the way and gathering supplies to make this hands-on learning possible. #SpringdaleFamily

💧✨ What a splash-tastic day! Our 5th graders went on an adventure following the journey of a water droplet with Beaver Water District! From source to tap, students learned how our community works together to keep water clean, safe, and flowing. Big thanks to Ms. Meghan Post for making learning come alive today! 💙🌎 #SpringdaleFamily

📚 Walker was thrilled to welcome author Tamara Hart Heiner to our school today!
Mrs. Heiner is the author of many children’s and young adult novels and a proud former Walker Wildcat. She especially enjoyed reconnecting with Mrs. Paxson, who was also a teacher at Walker when Tamara was a student. What a special full-circle moment for our school community! 🐾 #SpringdaleFamily

2nd grade had an exciting afternoon of hands-on learning! Suzanne Murphy from the Illinois River Watershed Partnership visited to teach students about weathering and erosion. After the presentation, students rotated through engaging labs to explore these concepts further. They also made important connections between weathering, erosion, and fish habitats, by learning how healthy watersheds help protect fish populations and our local ecosystems. #SpringdaleFamily #IRWP #AGFC
